As we enter a new year that promises to be dynamic and rich in changes and events, the glorious astrological beginning of the year seems to be largely overlooked.
2026 starts with a couple of beautiful celestial arrangement. One of them is the Full Moon early in the morning of January 03. Not only this is a dignified Moon in Cancer where the Moon feels the best and can freely express all her emotions and mark the time when our most caring side shines and warms our homes and families, but this Full Moon also conjoins exalted Jupiter (the planet of prosperity, wisdom, spirituality, and joy) and opposes Sun, Venus, and Mars in a tight aspect.

The rare triple conjunction of Sun, Moon, and Mars is the other significant and largely overlooked event that guides us into 2026. As we celebrate the New Year Day, the three celestial bodies are already conjunct in the sky, not only by the Zodiacal degree, but also by declination, which simply means that they are in fact very close to each other in the sky. They will continue to move closely together on their journey through Capricorn and into early Aquarius for the first four weeks of January, forming a partile triple conjunction in several degrees of Capricorn for several consecutive days: at 16 Capricorn on January 6, at 17 Capricorn on January 7, at 18 Capricorn on January 8, and at 19 Capricorn on January 9.

With this triple conjunction, we have an opportunity to explore the union of masculine and feminine energy fortified and illuminated by the Sun and brought to our attention by the Full Moon and Jupiter opposing it. This is a moment (or rather a month) when our softer side meets our decisive actionable side and when beauty and passion guide us on our journey of self-discovery. In addition to obvious interpretations as an auspicious moment to address, bring out and settle any relationship issues and make pivotal decisions about our personal lives, this is also a moment of self-discovery, finding an energetic balance in our lives, and commit to balanced choices. It’s the time to act with a clear vision by melting our passions and preferences with decisive movement forward.

Although the individual conjunctions between the Sun, Venus and Mars happen every year or two (depending on the two conjoining partners), a triple conjunction of the Sun, Venus, and Mars is a rare event that occurs only once in several decades and will not be observed again for 32+ years. It’s even more rare to see them conjunct in a sign, where both Venus and Mars are strong and dignified (Venus has her triplicity dignity while Mars is exalted in Capricorn), because their energies don’t easily blend, and signs of their dignities are mostly opposite. The last time the three celestial bodies formed a partile (within the same degree) conjunction in Virgo was in August 1987. They were close to each other in Capricorn without ever forming a partile conjunction in 1994, 26 years ago. This time, being highlighted by the Full Moo

n on January 3rd, forming a partile conjunction for several days in the row, with Venus Cazimi (being in the “heart” of the Sun, the event that amplifies Venus strength and spreads her influence with the Sun rays) on January 5, followed by Venus and Mars conjunction on January 7th and Mars Cazimi on January 8-9th and immediate opposition with the exalted dignified Jupiter, the event is a spectacular and glorious start of the year.
