The Sun moves into the sign of Sagittarius on Thursday November 21st at 2:57 PM EST, announcing a change of the focus and of the energy in the sky. It’s a whole new picture in the sky, with Pluto moved into Aquarius to stay there for the next 20 years; Mercury moving slowly at 1/3 of its normal speed and preparing to retrograde for three weeks just before Thanksgiving on November 26th; already slowing down Mars preparing to change his direction on December 7th; and Neptune preparing to turn direct on the same day to start speeding up to a whole new sign of Aries after more than a decade in Pisces... The Sagittarius season promises twists and turns and certainly a whole new unfamiliar terrain to explore.
We often have inner planets moving together with the Sun from one sign to another and focusing the energy of a season on one area of life. However, this time, only Mercury stays around and will conjoin the Sun in its retrograde motion on December 5th. This is usually an event bringing full attention to Mercury and allowing it to shine and express itself at its best, but this time Mercury is “in exile” in Sagittarius, in the sign opposite to its home sign, and it has little to offer. At most, it will deliver an inconvenient truth. The planets are spread all over the Zodiac during this Sagittarius season. With such a spread and several planets changing their direction, expect not only many changes (and changes back), but also a busy and hectic time. It also means that our perspective may change, and the new view of the world may bring changes in our personal plans as well. Don’t be shy to admit your life and your plans and expectations have changed – this is the beat of the Universe right now. new values, new activities, and new ways to do old thing are coming, and the old dogs will have to learn new tricks.
We will have a fiery New Moon conjunct a fixed star Antares and opposing Aldebaran on December 1st, and, for the first time in many lunations, this one will finally bring hope and courage instead of fear and will promise success and power coming back to our lives. The blessing of fixed stars will continue during the Full Moon on December 15th. The Full Moon will not only conjoin Jupiter, the planet of joy and abundance, but also will be in a very close proximity to one of the brightest and most beautiful stars Capella, promising abundance, good fortune, intellectual gifts and great rewards. I cringed describing a chain of recent lunations and trying to smooth out a message they were bringing, but I am very happy to finally deliver a promise of this month lunar phases, the promise of high energy, power, and abundance. I believe we all need a more hopeful and rewarding (although busy and hectic) month ahead.
With the opposition between retrograde Mars and Venus in Aquarius and retrograde Mercury making an easy connection to Mars from truth-loving Sagittarius, the gender-related topics may be discussed again and again. Although this may not result in practical outcomes and actions at this time, several planets in Air signs closely involved into this configuration warrant an open discussion, and the Full Moon brings attention to the topic of genders. In our private lives, this may be related to our personal romantic relationships – we may be negotiating the rules, and at this time, all information is out on the table to be examined. Agreements will be renegotiated, and redesigned to give us more power and more freedom in a relationship.
