Winter Eclipses 2026

Here we are in the midst of the first eclipse season of 2026, closing out what has been the

most astrologically intense month of the year. Rarely does the sky offer such clear direction. A series of powerful celestial events supports one another, creating a unified message and guiding us decisively forward in our lives.

Both eclipses (the Solar on February 17 and the Lunar on March

3) are strong. The Solar eclipse is annular (similar to a total eclipse, but with the Moon too far from Earth to completely cover the Sun, leaving a dramatic “ring of fire”), and the Lunar eclipse is total. The symbolism is fiery and unmistakable: the ring of fire itself, the Chinese New Year of the Fire Horse, and Saturn moving into the fire sign of Aries, where it conjoins Neptune.

The Solar eclipse urges us toward a new direction. We should expect external events that make it impossible to maintain current circumstances, both collectively and individually, especially if the eclipse activates sensitive points in your natal chart. Occurring at the end of Aquarius, the sign of the future, it boldly declares, “I am moving on.” Even more significantly, it falls on the Lunar North Node — the point associated with destiny and life path. And there is more: it forms a square to Uranus, which is completing its journey through Taurus, signaling rapid and unexpected changes fully aligned with the eclipse’s forward-driving meaning. Finally, Saturn has just entered Aries and conjoined Neptune at 0 degrees — the very beginning of the zodiac. What could signal a new beginning more clearly than 0° Aries, the starting point of the sign associated with initiative and exploration? The world is changing. Life is changing. There is no turning back.

The second eclipse, the Lunar eclipse of March 3, offers a brief but meaningful pause - a moment to revisit and release the past, so that we may move forward more freely. It occurs in Pisces, the final sign of the zodiac associated with acceptance, surrender, and completion. Lunar eclipses are more internal in nature; they often mark emotional turning points or shifts of heart. While external events can certainly accompany them, the primary emphasis is on inner transformation. Pisces, a water sign, supports this emotional process — water symbolizes feeling, intuition, and spiritual integration. Because this eclipse occurs on the Lunar South Node, it encourages us to look back, to release emotional patterns and residues that hold us in the past and prevent us from stepping into our future.
