Week of December 30th and 2025

adoastrology

The new year starts in the middle of this week on Wednesday, taking us on a wild ride of 2025. This year, the celestial energy changes dramatically, and we will notice many changes in our society and our personal lives. All the slow-moving planets change signs this year, and all of them move from feminine yin signs of Water and Earth elements into masculine Air and Fire signs. This will bring a new bolder attitude, an inspiration to act rather than reflect, to initiate and lead rather than follow and please, to assert and distinguish ourselves rather than adjust to the society’s trends. The sign of Aries will be on fire, and many events and decisions will be fast and impulsive, especially if you have prominent Aries placements in your natal chart. However, despite the fast pace and new pro-active energy of the moment that we may already feel with Pluto firmly in Aquarius and other slow-moving planets on a verge to transition to a new sign either in spring or in summer, the year may be frustrating, with many delays, wrong steps, and wrong directions. First of all, the year starts with retrograde Mars in fall, followed immediately by retrograde Venus in exile and retrograde Mercury in fall and exile, making the first quarter of the year eventful but not as productive as we expect. Second, after stepping into new signs, all slow-moving planets will retrograde back into the feminine Water and Earth signs in the second half of the year, negating our efforts and temporary progress, to our frustration. We will end the year with the slow-moving planets back where they started in the beginning of 2025, and that describes perfectly the feeling about our 2025 progress and achievements. We will fare fine if we adjust our expectations and don’t plan to move the mountains. This year gives us a glance into a new world and a new celestial energy that will be with us for years to come. It also offers a chance to go back, revise our readiness for a new world outside and to make any final adjustments to prepare ourselves for a new start. It’s a year to deep our toes into new adventures and new attitudes and rules, and to prepare for 2026 that will give everyone the green light to go ahead at their new speed.

We are starting the week with Balsamic Capricorn Moon and a tightening opposition between retrograde Mars and Pluto. The balsamic Moon is invisible and not the best time to try to get any attention. This one is also serious and somber, as Capricorn is not the most comfortable place for the Moon. As we near 2025, this time of Capricorn Balsamic Moon is a perfect time for reflection on 2024 and making lists and resolutions for 2025. Rather unemotional, the sign of Capricorn give us an opportunity to reflect about time, achievement of 2024 and our ambitions for 2025. Avoid any power games and childish expression of the bottled anger. Focus on practical tasks and planning for the future.

The New Moon in Capricorn occurs on Monday in the late afternoon/early evening (5:26 PM), and the New Moon does not connect to any planets, stressing the need to be alone and to focus on ourselves.

Tuesday is unproductive – don’t plan anything important and finish your preparations for the New Year celebration the day before. The day may present a series of unexpected events and confusion, but nothing too serious to be concerned. It may be difficult to get into a celebratory mood with the Capricorn Moon and retrograde Jupiter in exile, but there is a chance for excitement and unexpected as the Moon makes an easy connection to the planet of unexpected Uranus. The unexpected has to be thoroughly planned by someone, with the practical Earth signs highlighted by the Moon and Uranus.

On Wednesday, we wake up with Aquarius Moon conjunct the power plant Pluto and opposite to fiery Leo Mars. It’s day off for most, and it’s often spent relaxing, with nowhere to go and nothing important to do. Not this time. We will be full of energy and as much drive as a retrograde Mars allows. Hit the gym (I was surprised to find out my gym is not only open but offers all the regular classes), go for a walk, do the chores – anything to exhaust this excessive unsettling energy, so that it does not come out in an aggressive manner.

After the Moon connects with Pluto and Mars earlier in the day, it moves to making a trine with Jupiter in Gemini. This combination of two Air signs connected by an easy and pleasant trine, and the involvement of Jupiter make the afternoon and the evening perfect for socializing, either in person or online and through a phone call. If home alone, this is your time to dedicate to intellectual pursuits, writing or reading.

Thursday is also great for socializing or any interactions, including business meetings. There may be a couple of unexpected surprises, but the day will end on a positive note, and the mood will be happy and peaceful. Don’t plan to achieve much – the day is unproductive, but any interaction will build a meaningful pleasant connection with others.

Friday starts with the Moon still in Aquarius, but it moves to Pisces in the late morning, conjoining Venus exalted in Pisces. The day could be truly magical, with four planets – Moon, Venus, Saturn and Neptune meeting in a dreamy and creative sign of Pisces. It’s great for a movie, for dancing, ice skating, or just connecting to another soul in a meaningful way... The late morning is also a great time to get a haircut or to try new clothes – you will not be disappointed. Saturday offers dilemmas – to go ahead or to wait, to explore or to set the limits, to buy or to save, to say or to keep your boundaries... Watch what you are saying in the afternoon – as the Moon in the limitless sign of Pisces connects to debilitated Mercury in Sagittarius that does not know how to behave, you me blurt out something you will regret later! The day brings confusion and maybe even deception, but it’s not the time to discuss the situation – this will only lead to more complications.

Although it may difficult under the opposition of Mars and Pluto that is still very tight and active, take it easy on Sunday morning. Sleep in, move slowly. Church goer? It’s perfect day to attend a service – the Pisces Moon conjunct Neptune is the time to be spiritual and connected to the Universe.

Sunday afternoon is a more active and energetic time and perfect for a workout or any physical effort. It’s also a time to focus on yourself and attend to your own needs.
